New! Dow Chemical launches biomass POE

On September 5, 2024, Dow Chemical announced the launch of ENGAGE™ REN polyolefin elastomer (POE), its first biocycle family for the flooring industry.

This innovative move not only marks a solid step on Dow's path to sustainability, but also brings unprecedented green solutions to the flooring industry.

ENGAGE™ REN POE offers a viable alternative to conventional petrochemicals by using alternative feedstocks such as used cooking oil or biomass waste and converting them into biocycled products with a lower carbon footprint.

According to Dow Chemical, ENGAGE™ REN POE is primarily used in the manufacturing of carpet backing for the flooring industry, providing excellent dimensional stability and bonding support for fibers. This feature makes flooring products more durable and stable during use, while also reducing the frequency of replacement and waste generation, further promoting the concept of environmental protection and sustainable development.

Biocycle materials are a key pillar of Dow's vision for a low-carbon plastic ecosystem. Dow's "Turning Waste into Value" goal aims to commercialize 3 million tons of recycling and renewable solutions by 2030, including the use of alternative feedstocks such as plastic waste and biorecycling. Dow's biorecycled feedstock based resins are ISCC PLUS certified based on the mass balance approach.

In the POE field, in May this year, Dow also signed a memorandum of understanding with Changchun Fusheng Automotive Technology Research and Development Co., LTD., a subsidiary of domestic auto parts supplier Zhuojun Investment Holding (Changchun) Group Co., LTD. The two sides will jointly explore the application of polyolefin elastomer (POE) artificial leather and 3D air fiber mat in the automotive industry.

Dow has launched its new EVOAIR™POE faux leather solution, INFINAIR™POE resin and more. INFINAIR™ is a new sustainable polyolefin elastomer (POE) solution based on air fiber technology, specifically designed for the 3D air fiber market.
